Engy GHattas

Hi Everyone, My name is Engy GHattas .I'm not really into getting into the debt of mass media, politics and the press among others. But I know a background about the social media. As a social media pro, you probably already use all the biggest social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and media sharing sites (Instagram, YouTube, Snap chat), along with maybe a handful of others like P interest and Google Media plays an important role in present time. It can influence the minds of people. It depicts the personality of various persons during main events like electoral processes. It helps in building a particular image of a person. Media reports has a great influence on mass.

Media helps in shaping of democracy. It is also known as the backbone of democracy. It can easily expose loopholes of a democracy. It aware a government about the vacuum of loopholes. It also suggests path for filling those loopholes. Its reporting system makes a governing system accountable. It generates a responsive environment. It also helps in the creation of a citizen friendly aura. Media came into existence in the year 1780. Its first form was newspaper.

It has an important role in shaping human minds. Media can educate voters of a society. It also assists in the protection of human rights. It also promotes tolerance among various groups of society. It makes government's machinery transparent and accountable. It provides positive role in democracy. Media reports analyse, access, evaluate and create; several messages in meaningful forms. It also helps in the development of critical thinking ability in society. It helps in free flow of information and ideas. It exposes various scandals. It also awakens society with a positive gesture.

Media can also spread fake news. It can create various negative advertisements. Now a days, social media is playing a crucial role in developing a public opinion. It can influence a group of people in more negative form. There is a need of avoiding such information. These are harmful for a democracy.

Various experts say that media is having much more effect on presidential election. People try to judge a candidate with the numbers of likes and dislikes. They tweet and retweet the candidate's ideology. Various media groups also remain concerned about the various media readings. They keep on collecting data which can ultimately affect the process of electoral results.

Through all this criticism of the media, it is also important to note that the protesters must make improvements, too, if they want better coverage of their protests. They must articulate clear, concise, consistent, and reasonable goals to make sure that journalists and the public understand what they are all about. They must resist using violent tactics and making threats that endanger our society. They must seek allegiances with other like-minded groups. As we can observe from the Los Angeles Times coverage of the Day without Immigrants demonstrations, size matters. Larger groups are more likely to be taken seriously. It is also important to seek allies within the power structure. A voice coming from within the system carries more weight with the media. Finally, make sure that all events and demonstrations connote meaning. The pro-immigration protests were able to do this by marching en masses, making the case that the U.S. economy is dependent on their labor. The work stoppage and boycotts may not have had long-term effects on the local and national economies, but they did convey symbolic meaning to a large audience. By resisting many of the temptations that often give media the fodder to disparage the protest, the Day without Immigrants demonstrations went a long way toward delivering an effective message.
